THE Pacific Conference of Churches stands ready to help the people of New Caledonia as they prepare for the results of the recent referendum vote.<\/p>\n
General Secretary, Reverend James Bhagwan, said the people of the Pacific were united in prayer for a peaceful outcome.<\/p>\n
Here is his message in English and French to the people of Kanaky:<\/p>\n
To our dear sisters and brothers in Christ in the islands of Kanaky,<\/p>\n
Warm greetings of the Easter Season!<\/p>\n
As we transition into the season of Pentecost, our faith and spirituality fills us with a hopeful anticipation of the advent of the Holy Spirit on the Body of Christ, both then and now.<\/p>\n
In there same way there is much hopeful anticipation for the Holy Spirit to outpour on Kanaky during this Sunday’s provincial elections to choose a new Congress for the next five years. We understand that the new Congress is the only institution that has the power to call for another referendum for independence and that a third of members will suffice to do that.<\/p>\n
Please know that we are one in heart, mind and spirit with you and we are praying for this to be the advent of a Kairos moment for Kanaky.<\/p>\n
We reaffirm your quest for self dtermination in its fullness and want you to know that the the Body Christ in Pacific will be praying for you.<\/p>\n
