{"id":397,"date":"2020-01-18T22:49:16","date_gmt":"2020-01-18T22:49:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pcc.flofiji.com\/?p=397"},"modified":"2020-11-16T23:06:03","modified_gmt":"2020-11-16T23:06:03","slug":"pilgrims-plant-peace-garden","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pcc.org.fj\/fr\/2020\/01\/18\/pilgrims-plant-peace-garden\/","title":{"rendered":"Pilgrims plant peace garden"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A GROUP of World Council of Churches planted native food and shade trees in Fiji&#8217;s capital today in an effort to promote peace and justice.<\/p>\n<p>They were joined by the General Secretary of the Pacific Conference of Churches, Reverend James Bhagwan, and Forestry Minister, Osea Naiqamu.<\/p>\n<p>About 20 trees were planted on two PCC properties along Thurston Street, a three-minute walk from the main Government and court complex and in view of the United Nations offices.<\/p>\n<p>Seats and benches will be provided on the site for passers-by to rest in the shade or enjoy lunch.<\/p>\n<p>The WCC delegates are on a pilgrimage of justice and peace ahead of the 2021 General Assembly in Karlsruhe, Germany.<\/p>\n<p>In Fiji they will view the impacts of climate change, extractive industry and displacement.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A GROUP of World Council of Churches planted native food and shade trees in Fiji&#8217;s capital today in an effort to promote peace and justice.
